Rational drug use and antibiotic resistance are health problems that our country faces as well as the whole world. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations for stakeholders in line with the objective of creating behavior change towards rational drug use “Rational Drug Use (RUD) National Action Plan for 2014-2017” has been prepared and put into practice. In line with this plan, “Rational Antibiotic Use” has been designated as the priority field of activity. Within this scope, a number of activities have been conducted intensively in our country, especially in the southern provinces, and successful results have been achieved in reducing the use of antibiotics.

Preparations completed “Rational Drug Use (RUD) National Action Plan 2018-2022” is to be implemented are working to ensure the rational use of antibiotics will be carried out under this plan. In this context, ten provinces where antibiotic usage is intense were determined and “The Workshop on the Use of Rational Antibiotics in the Southern Provinces” was conducted in Gaziantep on March 22, 2018 in order to prepare provincial plans for 2018-2019 years.
